Mudras in Hinduism play a very significant role in Indian History. The Sanskrit word “Mudra” signifies the meaning of “Seal,” which is a symbolic or ritualistic gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism.

Significance of Mudras:

Mudras are formed by placing or joining the fingers and hands in different positions to design inevitable results.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is regarded to have started the basic Mudras. However, there are various types of mudras, and among them, some associate the entire body, and maximum are performed with just fingers and hands. As per Hathapradipika and Shiva Samhita, there are 10types of mudras.

Benefits of practicing Mudras:

Mudras are found in all forms and are used in religion, dance, art, and Tantra.
