India is a land of various cultures and traditions. Among them, worshiping trees is another culture in India. Indians have always considered and respect Mother Nature. It may be because human life is dependent upon plants and trees. They provide every essential and vital factor to make life possible on earth, as in oxygen, food, medicine, shelter, etc.

In India, there are a lot of mythical stories regarding the Indian tradition of tree worship in India. From ancient times, people worship trees and plants, including flora and fauna. Hindus believe Lord manifests in plants and trees. So, they protect and worship trees.

There is the spiritual significance of worshiping trees. Beliefs behind this tradition can be moksha, immortality, fertility, and for fulfilling wishes. People worship them to please the Lord. And in return, the Lord will fulfill the devotee’s desire.

In India, the sacred trees are Peepal, Banyan, Neem, Mango, Sandalwood, Bael, Coconut, Banana, Lotus, Kunda (star jasmine), Kadamb, etc. Peepal is the form of Lord Vishnu, whereas Bael is associated with almighty Lord Shiva. The banyan tree is said to be the humble living of Lord Krishna.

Therefore, this tradition is a spiritual connection between humans and the divine.
