Observe Chaturthi Rituals To Remove Obstacles And Welcome Maa Durga

Chaturthi, the fourth day of Durga Puja, is a day of preparation and discipline. While Shashthi marks the grand Bodhan of Maa Durga, Chaturthi builds the ground for it. This day holds a special place as devotees worship Goddess Kushmanda, the fourth form of Durga, known as the goddess who created the universe with her smile.

Alongside, devotees offer prayers to Lord Ganesha, as his blessings are essential to remove obstacles and ensure harmony before Maa’s arrival.

Rituals and Worship on Chaturthi

  1. Begin the day with a purifying bath and wear clean, simple clothes.
  2. Set the altar with lamps, flowers, incense, and sattvik food offerings.
  3. Offer prayers to Maa Kushmanda, who brings vitality, health, and prosperity.
  4. Recite verses from the Durga Saptashati or Devi Mahatmya to invite her strength.

Dos on Chaturthi

  1. Offer only sattvic food—fruits, milk, rice preparations, and simple bhog.
  2. Maintain a clean home and puja space.
  3. Observe discipline through meditation, silence, or extra chanting.
  4. Show respect and kindness to all as a reflection of the goddess’s presence.

Don’ts on Chaturthi

  2. Do not argue, gossip, or indulge in negative thoughts.
  3. Do not break the sacred lamp if Akhand Jyoti is lit.
  4. Avoid neglecting rituals or delaying puja.

On Chaturthi, devotion to Maa Kushmanda and prayers to Lord Ganesha purify the mind and home, preparing the way for Maa Durga’s grand arrival. Chanting her mantras and observing these rules with sincerity helps invite energy, health, and prosperity into life.
