Mukkoti Ekadashi, also known as Vaikunta Ekadasi, is a significant fast honoring the Hindu god Vishnu. This Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is observed during the Hindu calendar’s Dhanur/Margazhi month. The Vaishnava community adheres to the belief that on this particular day, ‘Vaikunta Dwara’ or ‘the door to the divine septum’ starts opening.

In the temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, a long line of Hindu worshippers gather to enter the Vaikunth gate. In South India, it is therefore acknowledged as one of the most auspicious days.
