Rahu Kaal is the time or period and is one of the eight segments during a day. This period is highly considered unfavorable. The time span of Rahu Kaal varies each day and is calculated according to the solar occurrence.
Accordingly, in Indian astrology, the planets are – Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. Rahu Kaal or Rahukaala and Gulika Kaal or Gulikakaala are also calculated based on the position of these planets. However, in Hindu Panchang, the varying planetary configurations mean that the auspicious hours will not remain the same always.
Besides, as per ancient Hindu astrology, Rahu Kaal is the period when Rahu lures you into negativity and greed. Astronomers believe that the Rahu has the strength to obscure the Sun, which causes the Solar Eclipse.

Likewise, the Thai culture has a similar dark deity who goes by the same name and quality. However, the Rahu Kaal stays near about 90 minutes, and in some cases, it can sojourn longer. Hindus consider it inauspicious to begin any ceremony or any undertakings during Rahu Kaal.
