Navagraha Puja is a powerful sāttvik ritual dedicated to the nine planetary forces that influence karma, health, and destiny. Practiced in homes and temples, this puja helps balance planetary energies, reduce graha dosha, and promote overall well-being.
What is Navagraha Puja Vidhi?
Navagraha Puja is a sacred, structured sāttvik practice designed to balance the nine planetary energies, effectively reducing “Graha Dosha” while inviting spiritual stability into your home.
This worship process is performed to harmonize the effects of Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu. It begins with purification, followed by a sankalpa (intention) to remove obstacles and invite health, prosperity, and spiritual growth. By aligning with these cosmic influences, you can transform karmic hurdles into stepping stones for success.
Navagraha Puja Vidhi
- Sankalpa: Take a clean bath, wear fresh clothes, light a ghee diya, and set your intention for health and prosperity.
- Kalash Installation: Place a kalash (water vessel) with a coin/betel nut in the center of your planetary circle and arrange the nine graha images clockwise: Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, Ketu.
- Avahanam (Invocation) — Hold akshata (rice) and flowers, invite each graha with their respective salutation, offering flowers and rice to each.
- Offerings: Present water, sandalwood paste, flowers, incense, lamp, and simple food like milk or kheer.
- Navagraha Mantra Japa: Chant each graha mantra 108 times in sequence from Surya to Ketu.
- Closing Ritual: Perform aarti, offer prasāda, and complete with gratitude and prayer.
Chant the Navagraha Stotra once, offer naivedya (milk, kheer, fruits, sweets), walk around the setup three times, then offer full prostration to all nine grahas. Close with a thank-you sankalpa, dedicating the merit to your family and all beings.
