Atapi and Vatapi are two demons mentioned in Hindu mythology who were notorious for committing the sin of Brahmana Hatya (the killing of a Brahmin).

According to the legend, these two demons would invite Brahmins to their abode and offer them a meal, having Vatapi (one of the demons) cooked in it. As the Brahmin ate the meal, Vatapi transformed himself into a goat and burst out of the Brahmin’s stomach, killing him. To read about the Brahmin society in Hinduism, click here.
