Kashi, also known as Varanasi or Benaras, is located on the banks of the Ganges and is widely known as the cultural capital of India.

According to mythological legends, Kashi is said to be founded by none other than Lord Shiva himself. Shiva was pleased by the ambiance of Kashi and fell in love with this place for its intellectual vigor, music, people, and culture and decided to make the city his residence. Since then, devotees believe Kashi is the primary award of Lord Shiva, and the residents in Kashi Banaras are genuinely devoted to praising Lord Shiva.

This holy shrine has one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva that are present on this Earth.
