Why Hindus Celebrate Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti?

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti is the birth anniversary celebration of the great Indian spiritual guru Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He was an earnest disciple of Lord Krishna ever since in history. He was born over 600 years ago and became famous worldwide because of his ethical words. Today, his adherents have spread his messages so far and wide. Even after years and years, he is still alive in the memories of people.

Who is Mahaprabhu?

Mahaprabhu was the biggest devotee of Lord Krishna in the entire history. He had spread his love for Krishna by awakening devotion for Krishna among the heart of the people. He was the one who preached that the only way to attain “Moksha” or liberation is chanting Krishna’s name. Thus, you can get complete relief after death.

Mahaprabhu was indeed a true Vaishnav (saint) who sermonized and taught people the easiest way to connect with God is by chanting ‘Hare Krishna’. According to him, “Krishna” is a sacred name, similar to his mystical form. Therefore, you can solely get close to Lord through the sound and vibration formed while taking his name.

Since then, Hindus and non-Hindu followers of Lord Krishna across the globe determined to chant “Hare Krishna” till their last breath.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti Celebration:

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born on Phagun Purnima, and this year it will be his 534th birth anniversary, which will occur on 9th March 2021.

All Sri Krishna temple, especially the ISCKON temple, organizes several amusing festivals. Celebrating the day, devotees perform Nagar Sankirtan in Mahaprabhu’s memory. Devotees perform Chaitanya puja (worship), starting with Tulsi puja along with the bathing ceremony of Gaura Nitai early in the morning.
